Surveyors moving to prestige ng² site –
- Nottingham Evening Post

Property firm Innes England is showing the ultimate sign of faith in one of the sites it has been marketing.

The firm, which has been based in Nottingham’s professional quarter for more than 15 years, is moving to ng² off Queen’s Drive.

The Miller Birch development has become one of the most successful prestige locations in the city, attracting blue chip clients like Experian, law firm Geldards, private bank Coutts and Inchcape’s £7.5m Mercedes dealership.

Now they are joined by the surveying and property agency, which is taking 4,000 sq ft in a freehold deal. The price paid has not been disclosed, but the building was on the market for £975,000.
Innes England boss Robert Hartley says the move out of The Ropewalk later in the summer will be a wrench for the firm. But he says it is necessary to accommodate the firm’s continuing expansion.

“It is a wrench for us because The Ropewalk is a good location and a lot of professionals are located there.

“But at the end of the day there are some real advantages to moving to ng².

“This is real, quality accommodation, surveyors are out and about a lot and you can get straight on to the ring road from this location.
“My view is that ng² is part of the town centre scene. The architecture is great, the landscaping is excellent and you are in a place that already has some big names that give it the right flavour.”

Around 25 of Innes England’s 65 staff are currently based at The Ropewalk, which is owned by a private investor.
But the building is not open plan, and would struggle to accommodate the firm’s expansion plans. Innes England’s lease also expires in December.

“It is a lovely building, but the accommodation means departments are split up.” said Mr Hartley. “At ng² we will be open plan which should lead to better communication and allow people to feed off each other’s ideas.”

Innes England is a multi-disciplinary practice that has grown in all the core areas, but Mr Hartley says expansion has also come from niches in the property industry.

“We have done a lot in the education market, advising universities and colleges in the East Midlands, and we have done a lot in motor retail and food, where we have advised major plcs. We have done a lot in the health sector, too.

“We are going to be expanding at ng² and we will take more people on. We think the business is out there- we have a good name.”

Peter Gadsby, chairman of Miller Birch, said: “I am delighted to welcome Innes England to ng² – a ringing endorsement of the product from our joint letting agent.

“The first phase of the Triangle has virtually all been sold with a substantial element of the second phase now under offer.
“Our main problem has been keeping up with demand. The success is simple – a quality product in a high quality landscaped setting in an excellent location.

“Phase three of the Triangle is certainly planned and a larger three-storey speculative office building will commence on site shortly.”

Halifax Bank of Scotland is also due to join blue chip business already on site at ng². It will bring more than 300 jobs to the site when it opens a home insurance operation.
